This lidded bowl honors three great Lakota chiefs. Sitting Bull (Tatanka Lyotanka), Gall (Pizi) and Red Cloud(Makhpiya- Luta). The piece has been pyro-etched, power carved, Designer Gouache painted, decorated with native patterns and topped with a stone arrowhead.

Chief Sitting Bull

Chief Angry Bear

The Chief dominates the front of this large symmetrical bowl. He is shown in full bonnet, bear claw necklace and bright red chiefs blanket.

The reverse side of the bowl shows a close up view of a real angry bear. The side panels are carved with a breastplate pattern and stylized feathers. The entire bowl is power carved and painted with Designer Gouache.

Soaring Eagle

Soaring Eagle stands with Windwalker in a lush valley as a backdrop and tall jagged mountain peaks in the distance. The reverse side of the bowl shows a eagle in flight soaring high over late afternoon sun drenched mountains below.

The side panels are recess carved with a turquoise inlace pattern and adorned with silver conch and horsehair tassels.
